In Ogunquit's 'Little Shop,' Latrice Royale Puts Her Glamorous Stamp on Audrey II
Steve Duffy READ TIME: 6 MIN.
EDGE: Is doing "Little Shop" as fun as it looks?
Latrice Royale: I don't know if the audience is having as much fun as I am, but I am having the time of my life. So, I know they're having a good time, but it can't compare to the fun I'm having right now. I am fully living my fantasy. If I'm having a fantastic time, I know they're having a good time.
EDGE: Are you a plant person?
Latrice Royale: I am. We have a lot of foliage. My house is covered in Ficus. We have a lot of greenery around the house; everything looks nicer with plants.
EDGE: Now that you've been a part of "Little Shop of Horrors," will you be afraid of your plants when you get home?
Latrice Royale: No, I raised them right, and they don't drink blood. They're strictly water and sunlight. I give them a little Miracle-Gro treatment, but hopefully, that will not help them grow too big and hungry.
EDGE: Is there another musical that you would love to perform in?
Latrice Royale: I am a "Rocky Horror Picture Show" fan. I have really come to love it. I've played Frank-N-Furter before and would love to revisit that role.
EDGE: How are you enjoying Ogunquit, Maine?
Latrice Royale: It's my first time here, and I promise it won't be the last. It is so gorgeous. I was on my way to work yesterday, and as I was leaving the condo, I just looked to the left, and there was the ocean right down the street. I'm just looking at the ocean. I'm thinking, "Who gets to do this?" I had to take a moment, take it in, and count my blessings. This experience so far has truly been a dream.
Latrice Royale appears in "Little Shop of Horrors" through September 21 at the Ogunquit Playhouse, 10 Main Street, Ogunquit, ME. For more information, click here.
