Putting all the Kanye West rants to shame, Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon and Emmy-winning actress Debra Messing went head-to-head this week in a heated, politically-charged Twitter feud for the ages.

The war of the 140-characters started after Sarandon appeared on MSNBC's "All in With Chris Hayes" earlier this week and went all in by suggesting she'd vote for GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton.

"I think a lot of people are like, 'Sorry, I just can't bring myself to vote for [Hillary Clinton],'" Sarandon, who has been campaigning for Bernie Sanders, said during her interview Monday. "Some people feel Donald Trump will bring the revolution immediately."

Though she went on to clarify she would never support Trump, her comments sparked outrage across the Internet and Messing decided to take to Twitter to call out the "Thelma & Louise" star.

Sarandon reiterated that she would not vote for Trump, but the "Will & Grace" star was still not having it.

This is when Sarandon directly responded to Messing, who did not back down.

Messing then tweeted a photo of herself hanging with Sally Field, who apparently is supporting Clinton as well. (And yes, Messing did write "Sally Fields.")

The Twitter war started Tuesday and carried over through Thursday, the Los Angeles Times notes, writing, "things seemed to devolve from there with Messing involving fellow celebrity pals at a Clinton LGBT event that night and Sarandon fuming that Messing was retweeting personal attacks."

Rosie O'Donnell and Kathy Najimy also got dragged into the fight, but things seemed to cool off Thursday with Sarandon and Messing calling an apparent truce, the Guardian notes.
