Bebe Neuwirth Hosts Annual Broadway Salutes Event

The Broadway League and The Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG) are pleased to announce that Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth will host the seventh annual Broadway Salutes event on Tuesday, September 29. The event will include special guest performances by Nikki James, Sydney Lucas and Jake Lucas who will each perform a song from three shows that opened the year the Broadway Salutes honorees entered the business.

"Broadway Salutes is a time to acknowledge the people who work behind the scenes and onstage, recognizing the incredible talent these dedicated artists, craftspeople, technicians and other professionals bring to the industry," said Broadway League Co-Chairs Jessica R. Jenen and Hal Goldberg. "The hard work of these individuals provides countless hours of entertainment to both tourists and New Yorkers, and acts as a significant source of revenue to the New York City economy. We are proud to honor those who make our Broadway community extraordinary."

In this industry-wide public celebration, theatre professionals will receive special recognition for having worked 25, 35 and 50+ years on Broadway for their valuable contributions to the business.� Directed by Marc Bruni ("Beautiful: The Carole King Musical"), Broadway Salutes will take place at Anita's Way, the public space next to the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (West 42nd to West 43rd Streets- between Sixth Avenue and Broadway) located in the heart of the theatre district.�The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. with red carpet arrivals, and the public ceremony begins at 4 p.m.

Broadway Salutes honors actors, agents, attorneys, box office treasurers, casting directors, choreographers, composers, designers, directors, dressers, managers, musicians, orchestrators, producers, publicists, stagehands, stage managers, stylists, theater owners, ticket sellers, ushers, writers, and many more theatre professionals who have dedicated their careers to the success of Broadway.

Broadway contributes nearly $12 billion to NYC's economy, supports an estimated 87,000 full-time equivalent jobs and generates $500 million in NYC taxes. �
