To believe or not to believe, that is the question.

One Direction's Liam Payne says the nude images of him (or a guy who looks like him) with another a man are bogus. The boy band member took to Twitter over the weekend to make sure all his 18 million followers know the pictures are just rumors, E! Online reports.

"Wow as if people think that weird photo going around is actually me lol think id rather tweet a full frontal than have people look at that," he wrote.

Payne, 21, came under fire by some fans who considered his tweet to be anti-gay. But the "Best Song Ever" singer clarified his remarks in another series of tweets.

"I'm 100% not homophobic," Payne said. "But I'm also 100% not gay so when somebody says I am, I'm gunna say I'm not which does not make me a homophobe."

The images in question were thought to be connected to the recent celebrity iCloud hacking scandal that shook Hollywood last month, where a number of A-list celebs' iCloud accounts were compromised. Sensitive and nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Hayden Panettiere, Aubrey Plaza, Rihana, Hope Solo and others were leaked to websites like 4Chan and Reddit.

Other One Direction members' sexuality have been called into question. In a 2013 interview with British GQ, heartthrob Harry Styles was asked if he was dating DJ and TV host Nick Grimshaw.

"Bisexual? Me? I don't think so," he said. "I'm pretty sure I'm not."

Gay Star News points out a Vine clip that allegedly shows 1D's Niall Horan kissing, or getting pretty friendly with, songwriter Julian Bunetta during the singer's birthday party in Las Vegas, went viral.

After fans flooded Horan's Twitter account with questions about his sexuality, the pop star wrote:

"all these rumours huh? you guys Crack me up."
