JoJo Siwa Shares Enthusiastic Update on Future Family Plans with Boyfriend Chris Hughes
READ TIME: 3 MIN.
JoJo Siwa, the 22-year-old singer known for her role on Dance Moms and hit song "Karma," has provided an update on her plans to start a family with boyfriend Chris Hughes. The couple, who confirmed their romance in June 2025 after meeting on Celebrity Big Brother, has been the subject of engagement rumors during the holiday season, though no proposal has been announced.
In an exclusive interview with E! News on January 25, 2026, Siwa shared how advice from fellow pop star Meghan Trainor influenced her perspective on love and family. Trainor, who recently welcomed her third child—a daughter—via surrogate, had told Siwa: "You will know you love somebody when you love them so much you want to duplicate them and you want to pop a baby out that is made from them." Siwa recounted telling Trainor shortly after beginning her relationship with Hughes: "I get what you’re saying now. Like, I love you so much. I need there to be a mini you."
Siwa's comments came after she posted an AI-generated image on social media depicting what her future children with Hughes might look like, captioning it: "My heart wasn’t ready for this." She described a humorous mix-up when Hughes did not initially address the post with her, only for him to reveal he had discussed it with his best friend Jack instead. Additionally, Hughes recently sent Siwa a childhood photo of himself "in a trash can," which further fueled her enthusiasm, prompting her to say, "Uh oh, the fever is high."
This is not the first time Siwa has expressed interest in parenthood. Previously, she stated: "I crave them, I absolutely would love to have babies. Yeah, it’s absolutely in my future and I don’t think it’s that far away." Siwa emphasized that her career is stable, allowing her to consider family life: "I’m at a great place with that... Obviously I have a great boy in my life, but there’s a lot of things to happen before then, but definitely want kids."
As a prominent figure in the LGBTQ+ community, Siwa has continued to identify as queer while in a relationship with Hughes, a dynamic she has navigated publicly. She has addressed facing "bullying" from parts of the LGBTQ+ community after clarifying she is "not a lesbian," while affirming her queer identity. Earlier, Siwa discussed feeling "pressure" to maintain certain labels, noting she had "boxed herself in." Her openness about family aspirations highlights evolving conversations around queer family-building, including options like surrogacy as seen with Trainor.
In a September 2025 podcast appearance on Reign with Josh Smith, Siwa shared how her relationship has shifted her views on marriage, expressing a newfound desire for a traditional wedding with her father walking her down the aisle. She said: "I've never craved a wedding... but now I'm like, 'No, I want a ring and I want my Dad to walk me down the aisle and I wanna first dance and I want butterflies.'" Siwa described instantly feeling Hughes was special, particularly after meeting his family and seeing him with hers.
Siwa's candidness resonates within LGBTQ+ circles, where discussions of parenthood often intersect with identity, relationships, and societal expectations. Her story underscores the diversity of queer experiences, from public relationships to envisioning family futures.
