A coalition of same-sex couples and their supporters have launched a statewide public education campaign intended to teach Oklahomans about marriage equality.

More than two dozen supporters of the right for same-sex marriage in Oklahoma gathered at the state Capitol Tuesday to start the campaign called Freedom Oklahoma.

Kim McDonald and Rebeka Radcliff of Tulsa say that they were forced to travel out of state to marry. They are now raising an infant son.

Kim McDonald says they were each born and raised in Oklahoma and hope one day that their marriage will be recognized in their home state.

The start of the campaign comes the same month that the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver is set to hear a case regarding the state's ban on same-sex marriages.
