Boston Celebrates Fashion's Night Out

Robert Doyle READ TIME: 2 MIN.

BOSTON, MA - Fashion's Night Out will hit the streets of Boston on September 8th, 2011 from 6:00pm to 11:00pm.

With Mayor Menino and the City of Boston in support of Fashion's Night Out, retailers across the city will participate in celebrating the evening with in-store events and extended shopping hours.

For the first time in over fifteen years, Newbury Street will be closed off to vehicle traffic in honor of Fashion's Night Out.

Fashion's Night Out was created in 2009 as a collaboration between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York. The event was created to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, and boost the industry's economy during the recession. Last year, Los Angeles, London and Milan were among hundreds of cities around the world that participated in Fashion's Night Out.

Boston natives Michelle McCormack, owner of LoveTheCool social media agency and Richard Villani, owner of Villani Productions, who have over 20 years of experience in the New York City magazine & fashion world, will be leading the city's celebration of Fashion's Night Out this year.

McCormack says: "We know this world, why not make a real difference in Boston by bringing our experience back home." Also instrumental in Boston's celebration of FNO is Kristina Tsipouras, owner of Agapi PR and Events, and Marianna Toroyan, owner of The Fashion Doctors, who both have had many years of experience in New York City and Boston's fashion industries.

The importance and impact of Fashion's Night Out is that it is not a single event. There will be thousands of event happening simultaneously in retail shops all around Boston (and the world). We invite Boston to celebrate fashion, and support our economy in an unforgettable evening of events and shopping experiences like Boston has never seen before.
