The New York Post reports that Anderson Cooper has now apologized for "calling President Trump 'an obese turtle.'"

On Thursday evening, just after the President gave a speech riddled with baseless claims about voter fraud — so baseless that many major news outlets either cut short their coverage or refused to cover it — and then ended the press conference taking no questions and predictably offering no evidence, Cooper responded with the analogy:

"That is the president of the United States. That is the most powerful person in the world. And we see him like an obese turtle on his back flailing in the hot sun, realizing his time is over."

The conservative-leaning New York Post said "many found the comment inappropriate" without pointing to any specific backlash. Regardless, in an interview on Saturday with former Democratic contender Andrew Yang, Cooper said "I regret using those words because that's not the person I really wanna be. It was in the moment, and I regret it."
