Tony Award-winning actor Ben Platt stepping back into his teenage angst for the upcoming "Dear Evan Hansen," the film version of his hit Broadway character.

However, upon the release of the movie trailer, commentaters were reportedly quick to point out that Platt does not, in fact, look like a teenager. Even, perhaps, he could be a member of the teaching staff.

As reported by Variety, Platt, 27, tweeted this response:

"Thank u from the bottom of my [heart] for the outpouring of trailer love yesterday," Platt wrote in a since-deleted tweet, Variety reports. "The film required me to revisit areas of personal pain, so seeing ppl excited & moved makes it so deeply worth it. PS to the randos being jerks about age, read this great article and/or watch grease."

Hear that "randos"? He's had enough of you. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Platt laid bare that he is older since he first donned the character. But he's also wiser and more in tune with what makes the character tick. But what matters most is Platt's voice.

"Director Stephen Chbosky says Platt's age matters less than his vocal prowess," reports Variety. "You just have to hear him sing the songs." He continues, "His understanding of the character is so complete and so profound. I couldn't imagine anybody else playing it. It's his part. I felt very strongly about it. And to me it was never even a consideration."
